Shannon Gaels GAA expresses condolences and profound sympathy to the McAreavey and Harte families following the tragic death of Michaela McAreavey. Both families and the GAA Community in Counties Tyrone and Down will be in the thoughts and prayers of all Club members at this extremely sad and difficult time.

The following information has been provided by the Tyrone County Board for those who are intending to travel to the wake of the late Michaela McAreavey on Saturday or Sunday.

Michaela’s remains will be repatriated to her family’s home at Glencull Road, Ballygawley on Friday 14th January 2011.ย  All day Friday the house will remain totally private.

A wake for Michaela will take place on Saturday and on Sunday at her family’s home.

On Monday the funeral Mass will take place in the neighbouring Ballymacilroy Church at 12.00 noon (this time is subject to confirmation). The family home will be strictly private on Monday, also.

The families of Michaela and her husband John have requested that, if desired, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to either the ‘Cormac Trust’ or the ‘Spirit of ‘Paul McGirr’ .

It would be hoped that the wishes and requests of the families can be fully complied with by all sympathisers and mourners

It would be helpful and convenient if persons travelling to the funeral could travel to Kelly’s Inn (on the main Ballygawley/Omagh Road) where they would be met by Club or County Officials, provided with a cup of tea/coffee & biscuits, and then would be transported to and from the family home.

For persons attending the funeral on Monday we can confirm that the main Ballygawley/Omagh Road will be closed to all traffic, apart from that travelling to the funeral, from 9.00 am.

GAA stewards will be taking responsibility for the management and parking

The Ulster Council has announced that a number of changes have been made to this weekendโ€™s fixtures as a consequence of the tragic and untimely death of Michaela McAreavey.ย  A Minutes Silence will be observed and Flags will be flown at half mast at all games that are played in the Barrett Sports Lighting Dr McKenna Cup this weekend as a mark of respect.ย

The Fear Manach v Tรญr Eoghain game scheduled for Brewster Park on Sunday 16th January is postponed, and rescheduled for Wednesday 26th January at 7.30pm.ย

The Muineachan v QUB fixture originally scheduled for Sunday 16th January has been brought forward to Saturday 15th January at Clones at 2.00pm.ย
